“I don’t believe in psychology. I believe in good moves.” ~ Bobby Fisher
I don’t believe in copywriting. I believe in good products.
Do you know how hard it is to promote a crappy product or service?
Let me put it in copywriting terms: Do you know how many lies you will have to tell?
(That’s a joke, Silly)
Listen, coming up with good sales copy for a lousy product or service is like coming up with a compliment for an ugly person with bad dress sense.
On the other hand, if you have a great product or service, the sales copy almost writes itself.
As Gary Bencivenga (if you don’t know who he is, you should) pointed out, “A gifted product is greater than a gifted pen.”
Think of it this way:
The product or service is the horse and the copywriter is the jockey. The best jockey in the world can’t win a race on a horse that’s a complete duffer and runs like a camel.
The bottom line is this:
The greatest advantage you can have in business is a great product or service.
Amen.
P.S. I’ll give you an update on my Playbook tomorrow or the next day, is that ok? It’s 10:27pm and I’m too tired to do it now.
Hope you’re doin’ well.
Peace.
