“Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens”. ~ Jimi Hendrix
When it comes to “making the sale”…
…it’s not how much you know that counts, it’s what you know that counts.
Harken:
A good salesman will shut his pie-hole and open his ear holes.
He does this cuz he knows if he lets his prospect talk, more often than not, his prospects will sell themselves. He also knows that by keeping quiet and listening, he’ll discover the two things about his prospect that will almost guarantee the sale.
What are those two things?
Simply this:
(1) Their main concerns and problems.
(2) The way they talk
Hear this:
Once you know those two things about your prospect, well, you’ve almost got the sale in the bag. All that’s left, my friend, is to deliver your sales pitch. You do that by simply talking (in their particular vernacular) to them about their biggest problem and then offering to solve it by way of your service or product.
The take-away:
Keep the BIG hole in your head closed until those two little holes on either side of your head have done their job.
Class dismissed.
But Kelvin, you didn’t show me how all this translates to email marketing?
Freckles, if you can’t translate all this to your email marketing, then you have more serious problems. (Hint: market research)
Now listen: if you want to get a black belt in sales, copywriting, and persuasion, then you should get your paws on The Black Book. It will certainly help you in your efforts. If you’re lucky enough to already own The Black Book, then I want you to turn to the chapter titled Selling in Reverse. It might just be the best sales/copywritng lesson I ever done taught!
You know, sometimes I forget how damn good I am. Reading The Black Book was a good reminder.
And yes, Bubba, I read my own books. Actually, I mostly read them to come up with sales copy to sell them!
That makes sense, doesn’t it?
Ah, whatta you care!
