Dear subscriber,

When you boil it down to the bones…

… life is essentially people walking around doing things to get things.

Every action we take, we take it because we want something in return for that action.

Let me clarify. When I say “every action you take”, I mean…

… Every Action You Take!

Bar none.

No exceptions.

Period, end of story.

I know what some of you are thinking: But, Kelvin, I often do things without wanting something in return.

You’re not wrong, Sweetcheeks. You are very, VERY wrong.

Listen:

Even the kind-hearted soul who volunteers at their local soup kitchen does so to get the feeling you get when you do a good deed. It’s a great feeling to help others. I would know. I once did something kind in 2009. It felt good. Look, the point is, the person who feels compelled to help the poor would be miserable if they didn’t act on it, thus they are doing something to get something – to feel good.

Know this:

It’s not just the vices that give you a dopamine hit, my friend. Studies show that acts of altruism give you a sweet dopamine hit, too.

So, I guess we could say that every action we take, we take because we believe it will ultimately make us happy.

We are all seeking happiness.

But let’s take our heads out of this philosophical cloud and come back down to the firm-sold ground of business, shall we?

Now, think of all the actions you took in the last few hours before reading this. I’m talking about the actions you took in your business.

When you get right down to it, all those actions you took were to achieve one end goal:

To Make a Profit!

Every business person on the planet is doing stuff for their customers in exchange for their customers’ hard-earned.

Now, while every business person has the same goal, and most people work on their business all day, why is it that some business people get far more than others?

For example, a hard-working doctor typically has an hourly rate of $100 dollars, while Jeff Bezoss pulls in…

… $8.9 Million Dollars Per Hour!

To put that in perspective, take your hourly rate and then add… $8.9 million dollars!

What is Bezos and other wildly successful business people doing differently than others?

I have given this a lot of thought.

I have concluded there are three key areas in business that truly move the needle. These three key areas, when highly developed and honed (that’s the hard part) can rake in obscene amounts of spondulicks.

Obviously, Bezos and other business people who are hootin’-rootin’-tootin” dirty stinkin’ rich have mastered these three key areas.

I talk about these three key areas in the July issue. Two of these areas many people pay lip service to, but they don’t do a damn thing to improve them. And one of these key areas is more overlooked than Danny DeVito ordering a drink at a crowded bar. But it’s this third thing that truly sucks in the bucks.

These three things, I believe, are where your focus has to be.

There’s some solid business advice in this issue, Freckles.

But don’t drag your stanky feet on this one.

Deadlines have a habit of catching people out.
