Dear subscriber,
The average person learns from experts in their industry.
The smart individual learns from experts from every industry.
And the super smart person learns from…
… Anyone and Everyone!
The truth is, there are lessons to be gleaned in every situation, every place, and from every thing, and every person.
The question is:
Are You Looking For Those Lessons?
Listen, even the bum on the street can teach you something. Even if it’s what not to do.
FACT: most people wouldn’t know a learning opportunity if it walked up to them and smacked them in the face.
And it’s not just because people are walking around looking at their phones.
Naw. People were like this before cell phones.
So why does the average Joe not see all these insights and lessons life’s laying at his feet, huh?
Methinks I doth hold a most excellent answer:
You see, the average person only learns in a learning context, such as in a classroom, or a library, or cuz they bought a book or course. In other words, they compartmentalize learning. But a true learner is always in learner mode. Their learning button has no off-switch. They could be out buying an ice cream and learn something insightful.
Listen, I could read a book on worm farming, and I guarantee I’d get at least one good idea to apply to my business.
That’s right, you can get some of your best ideas and insights from an industry that has nothing to do with yours.
This brings us nicely to the May issue, Bunky.
For this issue, I ventured into the crazy world of psychic reading, the mysterious world of hypnotism, and the cutthroat world of script selling in Hollywood.
Well, I doubt whether there are any psychics, mentalists (there may be a few mental), or hypnotists among you, however, I guarantee you’ll get a ton of ideas to make yourself a more persuasive individual and salesperson.
Here’s just a smattering of the gems inside this issue:
*An almost absurd docu-reality TV show every businessperson should watch. This show, as silly and outlandish as it is, will give you an absolute masterclass in creative thinking and problem-solving.
*The ingenious marketing stunt of a kooky LA-based psychic. (This oddball story is proof of the power of personalized marketing. – page 9)
*Perhaps the most profound sales lesson I’ve ever heard. This one’s from the one and only Alex Hormozi. Now, you may grow tired of me (and many others) mentioning this bloke, but trust me, you won’t grow tired of the results you’ll get when you implement this. – see page 10 – audio included!
*A hot tip on how to sell business opportunities to the masses. – page 12
*An insider copywriting secret straight out of the Gary Bencivenga playbook. (If you write sales copy and you don’t know who Gary is, you should find out right quick. This particular copywriting secret, when done correctly, will boost response like nothing else. – page 12)
*The “VT” persuasion method for getting people to persuade themselves. If you’re a student of persuasion, you’ll know that’s really the only way persuasion can truly work. – page 13
*Persuasion secrets from one of the most controversial internet celebrities today.
*Clever persuasion tips from a silly little rant about shower gel. This almost assured rant went viral online and it’s one of the most persuasive bits of rhetoric I’ve ever heard. – see audio
*The “chink” in Jordan Peterson’s persuasion skills. (Yes, Peterson has become wildly popular despite this big downside to his communication. Trust me, you don’t want to commit this persuasion blunder. If Peterson smoothed out this hiccup, he’d be even more of a force to reckon with than he already is. – page 6)
