The Maverick’s Most Chest-Beating Sales Pitch Ever!

One of my biggest influences is a lawyer.

His name?

Gerold Leonard Spence.

Gerry is one of the most talented and ingenious trial attorneys to ever suit up and grace a courtroom.

He’s retired now, but he has been dubbed…

…”The Man Who Cannot Lose!”

And…it ain’t no hype.

Check this out:

Gerry Spence has never lost a criminal case either as a prosecutor or a defense attorney. Nope. His silver tongue does not know the bitter taste of defeat.

He has not lost a civil case since man first landed on the moon (1969)

For real.

Hey, there’s a joke about Gerry Spence I like.

It goes something like this:

A man shows up at the Pearly Gates and sees this guy wearing a pinstripe suit and a briefcase, cigar in his hand, and he’s prancing about like he owns the joint.

He says to Saint Peter, “Who’s that guy?”

“Ah, that’s just God, thinks he’s Gerry Spence.”

Alright, enough messin’ around.

Lemme get to the point here.

Gerry Spence once said this:

“The best lawyers are not the ones who present the best evidence. No. The best lawyers are the ones who tell the best story. Lawyers must be storytellers. That is what the art of advocacy comes down to – the telling of a true story of one’s case.”

Hm.

Perhaps there’s something to this “storytelling” thang, ya think?

Maybe, just maybe, storytelling has a way of persuading people.

Now listen, it’s not just the elite trial attorneys who can tell a good yarn and persuade people to their way of thinking.

Is that right, Kelvin. Then tell us, who else is good at telling a yarn and persuading people?

Okay then, Babycakes, I’ll tell you who else.

The very best salespeople and copywriters are also good at telling stories that persuade people.

That’s who.

And if you, dear subscriber, aren’t using storytelling to sell your wares, then you are leaving so much money on the table it makes me wince.

You know, it’s not a coincidence that my most profitable emails are the ones that feature a story.

People are persuaded by stories. And people welcome them. Even an appeal court judge wants a good story with emotional appeal. By the way, that was a direct quote from a man named Gary Simms. Gary was a senior judicial attorney at the California Supreme Court for almost nine years.

Well anyway, if you want to know how to use storytelling to persuade, entertain, and make sales, then grab a copy of The Maverick’s StorySelling Secrets. It will give you a breakdown on how to sell with storytelling that you simply won’t find anywhere else.

If there’s a course or book on selling with storytelling out there that’s as good as mine, I’m yet to see it.

Listen carefully: It’s one thing to be able to make sales by telling stories; teaching others how to do that is another thing entirely. And when it comes to teaching…I’m damn good.

Actually, I’m probably one of the very best teachers out there – if not the best.

Alrighty, that’s enuff for today (my chest is starting to bruise from all that chest-beating)

Email Marketing Maverick

P.S. Here’s something interesting: In my first draft of this email (you do write a first draft, don’t you?), my intro read as follows:

“One of my biggest influences is a lawyer.

His name?

Gerry Spence.”

I then changed it to this:

“One of my biggest influences is a lawyer.

His name?

Gerold Leonard Spence.

Now, I ask you, why do you think I changed it? I bet most of you won’t have a clue as to the real reason.

If you think you know, hit reply and tell me your guess.

I bet most of you will be way off the mark.
