Dear subscriber,
Storytelling.
It’s a word often used.
Storytelling. See? I’ve used it twice already.
One group of people who like to use this word is marketers. Marketers who advocate and teach storytelling are smart. However, often they are too smart for their own good. I would go so far as to say they are too smart for their own good and the good of anyone who buys into their high falutin and convoluted teachings.
That’s right, these intellectual marketers make storytelling sound more complicated than a Congressional hearing on taxes.
Is it any wonder that the average Joe marketer thinks he needs to learn storytelling?
But, Kelvin, don’t you sell an expensive book on storytelling?
You’re right and you’re wrong. You’re right about it being expensive (actually, it’s only expensive if you don’t apply what’s in it), but you’re wrong about me selling a book on how to tell a story. My book doesn’t so much teach how to tell a story as much as it teaches WHY you should use storytelling. Once you truly understand the power of storytelling, I mean REALLY understand it at a deep cellular level, your marketing will elevate to a level you thought was not possible for little old you.
Harken thee, and mark well what I am about to say!
What my book on storytelling really teaches is how to use storytelling to sell your product or service.
That’s why I wrote it.
That’s what it’ll help you do.
And that’s all I have to say about it.
